As part of the railway upgrade from Ferny Grove to
Keperra over 2010-2012, Queensland Rail is aiming to reduce its impact on the environment by working with local bushcare organisations and groups to enhance the habitat at various areas in Bob Cassimaty Park Picnic Grounds.
Join the Men of the Trees, Kedron Brook Catchment Network, Queensland Rail and Brisbane City Council this Saturday, 10 December 2011, and help us reach our goal of planting 500 trees in Bob Cassimaty Park!
WHEN: Saturday, 10 December 2011
WHERE: Bob Cassimaty Picnic Ground, Samford
Road, Ferny Grove (opposite BP service station)
TIME: 8.00am - 11.00am
WEAR: sunscreen, insect repellant, enclosed shoes, hat
BRING: Yourself, your family and your friends!
A quick message to our fellow planters - tomorrows tree fun will be held at the duck pond on Bardon Esplanade instead of Clivedon Park as planned. Check out the planting schedule for updated details.
It's supposed to be a beautiful sunny day so don't forget your hat. See you there tree planters!
Forest Festival wrap up
Posted 03/10/11
Thanks to everyone who attended the Forest Festival! Despite the blustery conditions it was a fantastic day with over 500 trees planted and 300 sausages devoured. If you'd like to see photos and read more about the day, click on the link to the Forest Festival edition of Twahamwe on the right.
A special thank you also goes out to Quixotiq for the live soundtrack of the day, James' Connoiseur Meats at Kenmore for supplying the sausages, Brisbane City Council for letting us break in their brand new BBQ and the Kenmore branch of Kennards Hire for keeping us shaded from the beautiful spring sun.
Lastly, thank you to all the MOTT, Cubberla-Witton Catchment Network and Rainbow Forest Rehabilitation Group volunteers who provided the brains and braun behind the day. The happy faces on the young and young-at-heart said it all - well done!
